Rahul Gandhi’s controversial Telangana Caste Census: Unconstitutional Muslim classification, vote bank politics, and divisively polarising agenda

The following article was written for OpIndia. Pasting it here for reference:

Rahul Gandhi’s government in Telangana conducted a caste survey in the months of November and December in 2024. Actually, in the name of caste survey, they even tried to conduct a comprehensive survey of all material assets (how many vehicles you own, how many properties you own etc), but we will ignore that for now.

Rahul Gandhi thundered in Lok Sabha how his government in Telangana finished a caste survey and shocking results came to light. I don’t know if the results are shocking, but the classification of the results are certainly very shocking. Infact, they reveal the nefarious intentions of Rahul Gandhi to divide the people of Bharat.

Here is the summary table of what the state government published. All media carried out these numbers in various tabular/design formats. I highlighted the most dangerous classification from this report.

A screenshot of a cell phone

Description automatically generated

According to this survey, the total number of Muslims are 44,57,012. Out of this, Rahul Gandhi’s government is claiming that 35,76,588 Muslims fall under the Backward Castes category. That is a whopping 80% of Muslims in the state that they have unilaterally classified as Backward Castes! Caste classification in Muslims has already been declared as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of India. Yet, Rahul Gandhi, who constantly harps on Constitution of India has no hesitation in going down the unconstitutional path just to satisfy his vote bank.

While looking at the table, some obvious questions will come to anyone’s mind. For example: What about other religions? The summary report that Rahul Gandhi’s government has released does NOT mention any other religion. So, we don’t know under which category he has classified Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis etc in his table above.

The summary report has exclusive focus on Muslims. It says 15.79% are OCs in Telangana and this includes the 2.48% Muslims who are not BCs. There is no mention of any other religion in this classification. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy speaking in the Assembly also highlighted how the total BC population is 56.33% and this includes 10.08% of Muslims as BCs. It still beats why there has to be a separate classification for just Muslims in OC and BC.

A special 1-day assembly session was called by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to discuss the report. You would assume that they will table the report, and we will get to see details. No report was tabled in a session that was called to discuss the report! His ally, Owaisi was very agitated at not being shown the report but only a summary that has been doing the rounds. The government took shelter under privacy laws and the volume of the report (it is 1000s of pages long etc!) and said the session is only for accepting the awesome summary!

This resolution and report have now been sent to the Central government for approval. The central government cannot approve such a blatantly unconstitutional report. Once they reject it, Rahul Gandhi will again go to town screaming that his caste census report has been rejected. His divisive games are simply getting dangerous by the day.

There is another obvious question that everyone is now asking. Will Rahul Gandhi change the Chief Minister of Telangana? Because clearly by his utterances so far, it is only natural that Telangana should have a Chief Minister from the BCs. Rahul Gandhi will pass on that blame also to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The people of this country have continued to reject Rahul Gandhi’s divisive ideas. With each rejection, his resolve to make his ideas more dangerous keeps on increasing. It’s like he wants to punish the people of Bharat for rejecting his ideas. What else explains the dangerous idea of classifying a whopping 80% of Muslims as Backward Castes?

Why should history be kind to Dr Manmohan Singh – a leader who oversaw many disasters

The following article was written for OpIndia. Pasting it here for reference.

India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26, 2024. Amongst the things people were remembering about him, was his one utterance that became very popular –“I hope history will be kinder to me”. I kept wondering – why? Why must history be kind to a leader who oversaw many disasters and only a few good things?

Consider this startling statistic that concerns the life of citizens of India. In the 10 years before and in the 10 years after he became the Prime Minister, India has seen far fewer deaths and injuries from terror attacks than what we saw in his 10 years as Prime Minister.

Number of civilians and security persons killed from 1994 to 2024

English media anchors lose no opportunity to tell us how every life is important when they want to hype up isolated incidents of violence in a large country such as ours. However, they simply wish us to forget the terror that was prevalent when Manmohan Singh (and Sonia Gandhi) was ruling because it shows him in a bad light. Only the 26/11 Mumbai attacks occupy media space right now, but the list of bombings on various civilian places from 2004 to 2014 is quite long. Up until the 26/11 attacks happened, the Prime Minister of the country was so helpless that he could not even fire the woefully underperforming Home Minister. I cannot help but keep thinking why must history be kind to a leader like him?

For a moment, let’s keep all media debates and arguments on his performance aside. Let’s just take a look at what his own party considers as his achievements. The Congress party released the following infographic on their X handle (formerly Twitter), after Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away.

My intention is not to debate the history and nature of these achievements. My intention is to highlight yet another startling fact. Do you notice how the infographic has zero achievements to show in 2004, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2014? For 5 out of his 10 years in power, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s own party says he has zero achievements. Of the 12 achievements that his own party lists out, 3 of them pertain to the Nuclear Deal. His own party is confirming that his 2nd term was such a disaster that they don’t even know what to write about it. I cannot help but keep thinking on why must history be kind to a leader like him?

We spoke about the terror attacks in various places in India during his rule. The Congress party thinks that one of Dr. Manmohan Singh’s greatest achievements is to establish the National Investigative Agency (NIA) after 1000s of civilians were either killed or injured. He took 4 years to even do such a basic thing, but sure, history should be kind to him.

The English media tells us that we have been unkind to him regarding corruption. For a moment let’s leave out all the opposition and media out of this. His own ministers in UPA2 accused his own ministers of UPA1 of corruption. Were they being unkind too? The highest official in the department of Coals (Secretary) was convicted in the Coal Mines scam. The minister directly handling the Coals ministry was Dr. Manmohan Singh himself. Were the courts being unkind too?

Bereft of any significant achievements during the 2004 to 2014 reign (as confirmed by the Congress party itself), the English media talk about him being a dignified person; a calm person etc. What good are these qualities if as Prime Minister of India, he sets a benchmark of being helpless? He famously said, “we are passing our burden to our children who have to repay this debt”. Imagine the great economist saying this to justify his actions. Why must history be kind to a leader who passes burdens to our children?

Speaking in the Parliament sometime after winning the 2009 elections, Dr Manmohan Singh said that since the people of the country have given a higher number of seats to UPA (compared to 2004), all criticism directed against him should be put to rest. It is of course true that the people of the country voted in favour of UPA (though they still did not win 272 seats). The MNREGA, the farm loan waiver, and the Nuclear Deal – have all helped UPA retain power in 2009, despite the repeated terror attacks. That’s the beauty of democracy. Now, by that same yardstick, the people of the country have badly rejected Dr Manmohan Singh (and Sonia Gandhi) in 2014. The memories were so bad (and of course, Modi’s performance was also good) that the people of the country continued to reject the Congress party for 3 consecutive elections (2014, 2019 & 2024). By Dr Manmohan Singh’s own logic, why must history be kind to a man who presided over such a disastrous reign?
Sure, he has done some good things. No one is denying him credit, wherever it is due. People of the country gave UPA a higher mandate in 2009 too. More such details about his tenure and all Prime Ministers of India can be found at the PM’s Museum in New Delhi (which by the way, was built by his successor Narendra Modi!). Sentimental dialogues such as “History will be kinder to me” may play well to the galleries, but the people of the world’s largest democracy have given their verdict about his legacy. In his death, the people have also shown great respect to the departed soul. Let’s not confuse that respect with washing away the actions of his disastrous reign. There is no reason why history must be kind to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

First Year of Revanth Reddy, Marred by More Controversies than Achievements

The following article was written for MyInd Makers. Pasting it here for reference:

There were two key aspects to Revanth Reddy’s and Congress’s campaign for the 2023 Assembly elections in Telangana last year. One was of course, the abundance of promises. Second was the time frame for implementing those promises.

Revanth Reddy went overboard in promising that Congress would implement six guarantees within 100 days of coming to power. In a neatly designed graphic, everyone starting from the INC President Mallikarjun Kharge to the social media volunteer posted the 6 guarantees.

It is a very well-designed infographic that gives you the first impression that there are actually only 6 guarantees in the promise. A second look, and you will realise how Congress scammed you even with something as simple as a number! A closer perusal of the document shows that the actual guarantees being promised are 13 in number, and not 6! Almost every “Guarantee” has sub-guarantees included in them.

In the first 100 days, the Congress party only fulfilled 4 out of these 13 guarantees. Infact, only 5 of these guarantees are fulfilled after a full year in power! Back then. the Congress party and its compliant media wanted to highlight the deception as an actual achievement, but the people of Telangana used the Lok Sabha elections as a great chance to give Revanth Reddy a message. Congress party won only 8 out of the 17 seats here, with BJP winning 8 more and MIM winning 1. This was the first setback Revanth Reddy received within just 5 months of coming to power.

The setback was also because of the failure to keep up the promise of waiving farmer loans up to 2 lakhs, in 100 days. Later in 2024, during the campaign for the assembly elections of four states, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, highlighted the non-fulfilment of promises by Congress governments in Himachal, Karnataka and Telangana. Revanth Reddy took it to heart and wrote a detailed letter to the Prime Minister in October, listing out how his government waived loans of nearly 22 lakh farmers. The Congress party released an infographic claiming that the Telangana government waived the loans of 40 lakh farmers (and not just 22 lakh farmers!).

Image

It is really phenomenal how the Congress party manages to create scams out of pretty much everything. This confused messaging went on to prove the Prime Minister right!

The failed promises are the not the only thing that kept Revanth Reddy in the limelight. He instituted a new department and notoriously named it HYDRAA (like the monster from Greek Mythology!). HYDRAA’s remit was to demolish constructions that came up on lake beds. Compliant media even wrote headlines such as “Hail HYDRA”. Until news came out the house of CM’s own brother occupied land on a lake bed.

And that he has been given enough time to file a case in HC, while other hapless citizens who built their houses after all due permissions from government agencies are having to witness their houses demolished. The poignant videos of hapless citizens wailing while CM’s family was availing services of lawyers to protect their houses, sent out a very strong message to the society of Telangana.

Well then, is it all doom and gloom after the Congress came to power? Revanth Reddy was successful in filling up thousands of positions in the state government, something that the previous government could not do. This has created goodwill for him in those families who have waited long enough to secure these jobs. While now we will never know if the loans of 22 lakh farmers or 40 lakh farmers were waived, it remains a fact that loans up to 2 lakh rupees were waived off for some farmers – which in itself creates goodwill for him amongst this section.  He is envisioning a new city – the Fourth City – in the Hyderabad limits. He has already announced the setting up of 2 universities – Skill University and Sports University.

However, controversy seems to follow him mainly because of the hypocrisy of the Congress party as a whole. Revanth Reddy has entered into an MoU with Adani. In addition, Revanth also accepted a donation of 100 crores from Adani for the Skill University (which he later announced that the government won’t be taking!). In fact, these pictures of multiple meetings with Adani became very popular and were used to question Rahul Gandhi’s hypocrisy.

BJP taunts Congress after Adani signs MoUs with CM Revanth Reddy for investment in Telangana

Another pet project that Revanth Reddy has been envisioning is the development of the Musi riverfront. The vision slowly turned into an obsession because the opposition was getting successful in linking the clean-up of Musi to the dreaded HYDRAA project. Revanth Reddy went on an overdrive claiming that he would spend a whopping 1 lakh 50 thousand crore for the development of Musi – he went to London to study their riverfront projects; he sent a delegation of ministers, officers and journalists (Yes, journalists) to study the riverfront projects in Seoul! And he ended up challenging Prime Minister Modi to fund this 1 lakh 50 thousand crore dream!

Revanth Reddy has also commissioned Rahul Gandhi’s pet project – the caste survey! It is still a work in progress so we will have to wait what he will do with that data. The first one year of Revanth Reddy’s government was marred by more controversies than achievements. His speeches on various occasions are also filled with vile language towards the opposition leaders. He has four more years to create more work and less controversies. Time will tell, if he will improve!

Faculty Development Program at Sreenidhi Institute

Originally posted on LinkedIn: November 15, 2024

Recently, had an opportunity to interact with faculty of various engineering colleges, as part of an Faculty Development Program (FDP) conducted by Sreenidhi Institute.

We interacted about the (R)evolution of the smartphone and how the faculty can incorporate various facets of the (r)evolution while teaching various subjects during the Engineering curriculum, from 2nd year to 4th year.

I was also reminded of a similar program in 2017, we (myself and many colleagues) conducted, for the faculty of BVRIT group of institutions. Both these interactions were extremely fruitful for all of us.

The theme of all our interactions with faculty is similar - how can the faculty map theory they teach, to practical implementations in day-to-day technologies that are in use. We believe this will ignite more interest in the students and create further interest in their role in shaping our future!

Career Saathi Program Residential Camp – Remarkable Story (March 2025)

Originally posted on LinkedIn: March 25, 2025

The first picture, from yesterday, has a very remarkable story :)

In the picture, are three young Qualcomm engineers along with 125 girl students (currently in their 12th grade, selected for this program because of their success in 10th class in government schools). This is from the Residential camp that Qualcomm-NIRMAAN conduct, regularly, as part of the unique Career Saathi Program.

The 3 young engineers, Mamata, Thanuja & Blessy have come from a very similar background as these students, and therefore were best fit to interact with the students.

Even I didn’t anticipate how awesome this interactive session would proceed to be. While students often only hear about success stories, this was perhaps the first time they saw & heard someone just like them on how they achieved academic excellence and also such good employment. It’s like the students had a real-life motivating session that they could personally connect to.

There was something very emotional (yet enjoyable) about the whole interactive session yesterday.

Sessions varied from specific problem solving methods from their subjects; Choices, especially during this adolescence phase; how to connect various STEM subjects to their implementation in everyday technology; self-growth stories of leaders in the industry from similar backgrounds as these students; preparing and demo'ing STEM models; financial literacy etc!

It was a remarkable experience for me and my colleagues to have been part of this camp, very ably conducted by NIRMAAN. Looking forward for more such interactions and watch them grow in stature :)

India's Response to Pakistan Terrorism (May 2025)

Originally posted on LinkedIn: May 13, 2025

"This is not a time for war. But this is also not a time for terrorism". This assertion from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his emotional speech on May 12th has brilliantly summed up India's devastating response to the rogue state, Pakistan.

India was very clear from the beginning - everything we will do, will only be in retaliation to the attack on India. You sent terrorists to wipe away the Sindoor of our women. We destroyed 9 of your terrorist camps, including your headquarters. Masood Azhar had to lose 10 of his relatives and literally cry in a call.

You then send 100s of drones and some missiles our way. You force us to retaliate, yet again. In just 90 minutes, we hit 11 of your air bases. We hit you in your capital Islamabad. We hit you in your commercial capital, Karachi. We hit you in your military capital, Rawalpindi. Your Army Chief had to hide in a bunker.

You come begging to us to stop the destruction and devastation we unleased on you. "This is not a time for war. But this is also not a time for terrorism" - has guided our Prime Minister to agree to halt the retaliation, provided you stop your provocation. Our Prime Minister has made it clear to you that Nuclear blackmail will not work with us. You now know the wrath we will unleash on you. We don't even know what it is you folks are celebrating on the streets!

Regarding Donald Trump's statements - I think our Prime Minister has comprehensively debunked his claims. On any day, I will trust my Prime Minister over Trump. Trump can say whatever he wants. We are however proud of our armed forces and the political leadership that has given an unprecedented response to terrorists. Bharat Mata ki Jai!

Career Saathi Program Interaction with 130 Girl Students (October 2025)

Originally posted on LinkedIn: October 21, 2025

Over the past weekend, we had a series of wonderful interactions with nearly 130 girl students of our Career Sathi Program (CSP is a joint program by NIRMAAN and Qualcomm). These students have been identified in their 10th class, and are currently pursuing their 12th class.

Colleagues have come up with really innovative and brilliant ideas to conduct very very meaningful interactions with these students - something that the students have repeatedly acknowledged :). We also handed over many books that colleagues have donated.

More importantly, it was really fascinating to see these students overcome their fears and express so eloquently, their learnings in STEM & their experiences at the residential camps! They are all certainly gearing up to play a very important role in the building of our nation :).

Here's to more such wonderful interactions!

10 Years of Mentoring at BVRIT Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women

Originally posted on LinkedIn: December 1, 2025

There is a very large engineering community that we all affectionately call as the "JNTU affiliated" community :). So many of us have done our engineering from colleges that were affiliated to JNTU.

Once we gained enough exposure in the industry, we figured that we must go back to our JNTU community and start interacting with our engineering students. The theme was simple - we will talk about where all that theory they learn, is implemented in the real world. Some of us used to do these interactions on an adhoc basis, from the year 2010 onwards.

In 2016, many of us at the office came together to give a formal structure to the program and mentor engineering students from these colleges. While we have visited many colleges, the BVRIT Hyderabad college of Engineering for Women has been the only institution with which we have run this mentorship program, every single year, for 10 years now :).

During the wonderfully organised Decennial celebration on 29th November, we also realised that nearly 800 students were mentored over the course of these 10 years. Many volunteers from Qualcomm had really insightful sessions with these students, and some volunteers have been doing this diligently for all the 10 years now!

For ECE students, topics have always been focused on the engineering aspects of the evolution of various technologies on the mobile phone & how they work. For CSE students, topics have varied from Programming to OS to Databases and more; and volunteers have often come up with really unique and interactive ways to teach these topics.

The students, faculty and management of BVRITH have been at the forefront of taking forward many of the learnings from these mentorship sessions. We've always looked forward to go back to the campus every year, to interact with fresh minds and come back rejuvenated!

The Decennial celebration was a nice opportunity to reflect upon the success so far and to plan for the upskill in the coming years. We've often enjoyed the quality discussions with the management of BVRIT, starting from their Chairman and this weekend was no different! We often reward the students with chocolates; this time the management won 5-stars for their exceptional leadership :).

Here's to many more such celebrations! India is on the cusp of achieving greatness and our engineering community will play in a big role in it. We all play our small roles in making it happen :).

Career Saathi Program Residential Camp with 130 Students (December 2025)

Originally posted on LinkedIn: December 2, 2025

On Saturday and Sunday, some of us spent really really really quality time with nearly 130 students of our Career Saathi Program (jointly run by NIRMAAN and Qualcomm). These students are in their 11th class, and had a residential camp organised for 4 days.

Like my colleague Ram Gourishetti mentioned in his post, this weekend wasn't a motivational & learning session just for the students, but also for many of us!

We spent many hours interacting with them on various topics, ranging from matrix multiplications to sensors to GPU to display to Boundaries to Digital Safety to Goal setting to Periodic Table to Solar System and many more :)

It is indeed inspiring to note how these students are adamant on not making the circumstances from which they come, an impediment to succeeding in getting into a STEM degree.

India's young are ready to take our country to greater heights. With an infectious enthusiasm like this, a Viksit Bharat in 2047 will indeed become a reality!

Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025 — My Experience

On January 12, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent the entire day with young leaders from across the country at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025.

A unique program (as with many of his programs), this event had multiple stages. I had the wonderful opportunity to be part of the leadership moderators (3rd stage) for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and interact with bright young minds from these two states.

In this era of constant outrage on social media and TV media, these enlightening conversations with youngsters were a strong reminder of how little the outrage matters. The discussions proved that the youngsters of Bharat are more enthusiastic about finding solutions than indulging in indignation. The rooted nature of these conversations is something I will never forget.

Some of the students got selected for the finals in New Delhi, some didn’t—after all, it’s a competition. But all of them made a great impact on me. And all of them were determined not to let go of their ideas and passion irrespective of the result of this particular competition — Viksit Bharat 2047.
