The following article was written for MyInd Makers. Pasting it here for reference:
This article is primarily intended for those who are not on twitter.
On October 31st, while speaking at a Delhi High Court event, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal went on to make some slanderous allegations, as follows (emphasis mine):
“Have seen two judges say that "don't talk on phone, it is being tapped". I said phones of the judges can't be tapped. I don't know if it is true or not, but if this is true, then its dangerous. Where is the independence of the judiciary then? If any judge has done something wrong, even then phone tapping shouldn't happen. There are many other ways to gather evidence.”
I was then reminded of the many times that Arvind Kejriwal, with little regard to the constitutional and responsible position he holds, has resorted to rumor mongering on the social media itself. All I had to do was search for “true” and “ArvindKejriwal” to see what kind of menial mentality the Chief Minister possesses.
A “journalist” tweets something as random as this on his timeline –
“There was a meeting of council of ministers @narendramodi's res last nite. Heard @arunjaitley didn't attend. Occupied or miffed!”
And Arvind Kejriwal very innocently asks us, “Oh! Is this true?” No other Chief Minister in the country would have taken this random tweet with even an iota of seriousness, because they know that meetings of council of ministers is a serious business. But then, it would be naïve to expect the CM of Delhi to know the meaning of serious business!
In 2015, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP were miffed with Arnab Goswami for asking too many questions. How do they decide to get back to him? By asking questions about his salary – yes, you are reading this right – the Chief Minister of Delhi sends out a tweet asking, “Is it true” that Arnab earns a salary of Rs. 5 crore.
In 2015, Arvind Kejriwal started accusing Arun Jaitley of corruption. Again, as usual, without any proof whatsoever. The modus operandi is quite simple – once some random tweet or article appears about Jaitely, he goes on his “Is this true?” spree. Sample this:
“Is this true? Why is BJP trying to cover up Jaitley ji's corruption?”
Or better yet, a “journalist” who covers AAP, tweets as follows:
“Question being asked on twitter. Will @pbhushan1 now represent @arunjaitley?”
And our man jumps in with his – “Is this true?” comment! And because his attempts at rumor mongering were failing so badly, he finally asks this –
“Is it true that MHA has sent DDCA file to PM to decide whether to declare Enquiry Commission illegal (1/2)”
Arun Jaitley has (rightfully) gone on to file a civil and a criminal defamation suit against Arvind Kejriwal and his other party members. Prashant Bhushan is not representing Arun Jaitley. Kejriwal doesn’t bother to clarify his “Is this true?” assertion. In court, Arvind Kejriwal is simply not able to show even a shred of evidence against his utterances. All he is doing is employing delaying tactics – seeking adjournment after adjournment – and wasting the precious time of the court.
A former BJP MLA joins AAP, says BJP and MIM colluded in Bihar elections (yep, sometimes people can talk like this too). Our man jumps in with his “Is this true” assertion! He got an earful from MIM leader, Owaisi, from whom it is nothing but sacrilege to think about entering into an agreement with the BJP!
Very recently, he asked the Congress chief of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh his “Is this true?” assertion.
“Sir, ppl talking in Punjab that u using Majithia's drug money in ur campaign. Is it true? U had saved him from CBI enquiry 3 yrs back”
Captain Amarinder did not take this lying back, and challenged him to come to an open debate. As expected, Arvind Kejriwal chickened out (the entire conversation has been captured well in this article here), coming with a fresh excuse each time the challenge was re-iterated. Twitter was also abuzz on how he has challenged opponents earlier and now is chickening out when challenged!
The menial mentality is not just restricted to this. He has abused journalists for being “dalals” (brokers) merely because they say something positive about the central government. He and his fellow comrades have called journalists' names because they have supported some ideas of the central government. He has sought to take political advantage over the deaths of people. A woman who has committed suicide, is on record saying Arvind Kejriwal has asked her to compromise with her abuser. This has been hushed up in the media, but imagine if the woman accused some lowly corporator from other parties? Oh wait, you don’t have to imagine – Arvind Kejriwal has already done the unthinkable – accused the Prime Minister’s “involvement with a girl”.
About a couple of months back, MyIndMakers, had carried my article that suggested that Arvind Kejriwal can learn a thing or two about governance from Chandrababu Naidu and KCR. The article had pointed out that despite facing some real teething difficulties owing to haphazard bifurcation by the Congress, both the CMs are doing governance on war-footing. Yesterday, the GoI released their “Ease of doing business” ranking across the states. Andhra Pradesh stood at the first position. Telangana at the second. They were separated only by 0.005 points. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Delhi is tweeting on a war-footing too. Day in, Day out. And since he has realized the tweets are now becoming comic, he has chosen an occasion of the Delhi High Court to continue with his rumor war.
Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad immediately clarified that there was no phone tapping. The Home Ministry released a statement that said there was no phone tapping of the Judges. Arvind Kejriwal hasn’t commented anything on those clarifications. Surprised? Don’t be!
